We support various comment field formats (date, text, user), but they can't all work in the Issue Navigator, which supports only one format at a time. To resolve this, we may split Commented fields into multiple fields, each grouped by format, ensuring compatibility and functionality in the Issue Navigator.

A large suite of comment fields that display the information defined on the user comments. All comment fields are locked (hardcoded) and it is only possible to associate them to different screens.

  • Date of the last comment - Displays date and time of the first created comment on an issue.

  • First comment (Simple text) - Displays the user who was first to comment on an issue.

  • Last comment (Simple text) - Displays the user who was last to comment on an issue.

  • List of commented users - Displays all users who commented on an issue.

  • Number of comments - Displays the number of comments on an issue.

To create and configure the Comment Fields custom field, you must be logged in as a user with Jira Administratoradministrator permissions.

  1. Go to AppsManage your appsFields - Custom Field Types

  2. Click on Create custom field button on the right side of the screen.

  3. Select Comment Fields and click Next.

  4. Name and add a description to your field then click Next.

  5. Select field type and click Next.

  6. Associate the field to the appropriate screens and click Create. You must associate a field to a screen before it will be displayed.

That’s it! You can now navigate to your issue and enhance it with Comment Fields.

After screens are selected, calculated fields will display on those screens and calculate the selected information.
