Blog Settings
When Cosmos is installed, blog posts include a Blog Settings button that opens additional news management options directly from the blog post. This allows organizations to enhance Confluence blogs with intranet-focused features such as Cover Images, Categories, pinning, and future audience targeting.
Access & permissions
The Blog Settings button is visible to users on blog posts, but management access is restricted to users with the correct permissions:
Users with page edit permissions
Confluence Admins
Cosmos Admins
These users can open Blog Settings and manage available options.
Users without permissions
Users who do not have the required permissions can still see the button, but when opening it they will see an empty state or permission message instead of editable settings. This ensures visibility of the feature while keeping control in the hands of authorized users.
Cover Image
The Cover Image option allows a custom image to be assigned specifically for Cosmos News experiences. When selected, this image is used across supported Cosmos News modules, widgets, and views.
If a Cover Image is added in Blog Settings, it takes priority over the standard Confluence blog header image and overrides it in Cosmos displays.
This gives organizations more control over how news is presented, allowing blog content to use one header image in Confluence while using a different, optimized image for the intranet experience.
Pinned
The Pinned Blog option keeps selected blog posts prioritized across Cosmos News experiences. Pinned blogs are always displayed at the top of supported News Hubs, features, widgets, and modules, helping highlight important announcements and key communication.
When multiple blog posts are pinned, they are ordered by the latest publish date first.
It is also possible to define a Pinned until date and time. Once the selected time is reached, the blog post is automatically unpinned and returns to its normal position based on standard sorting rules.
Add categories
The Categories option allows blog posts to be organized using News Categories, making content easier to structure, discover, and filter across Cosmos News experiences.
Categories selected in Blog Settings are applied to the blog post and can be used in supported News Hubs, widgets, modules, and filters.
Cosmos Admins can also create new News Categories directly from this area, making it easier to maintain and expand the category structure without leaving the blog post.
Why Blog Settings matter
Blog Settings help organizations manage internal communication more effectively. By giving content creators additional control over how blogs are presented and distributed, Cosmos ensures that important information reaches the right employees while keeping the intranet organized and easy to navigate.
