Powered by Cosmos - Intranet for Confluence
Some Optics features are powered by the Cosmos and are available only when Cosmos is installed and fully licensed on the same Confluence instance.
These features rely on Cosmos data, services, and infrastructure to function properly. If Cosmos is not installed or licensed, the related functionality will be unavailable or limited.

User Profiles Database
The User Profiles Database is a powerful feature powered by Cosmos that extends user profiles with additional employee information such as department, location, skills, job title, and other custom fields.
When using Teams and Activity modules, this data can be selected and displayed on user cards to create richer people overviews and more informative employee directories.
For more details about configuring and managing the User Profiles Database, read more here.
Social Widgets: Birthdays, Anniversary, and New Starters
The Birthdays, Anniversary, and New Starters modules use date-based information from the Cosmos Employee Database to automatically generate employee overviews and celebratory widgets across supported modules.
Configuration is managed in Cosmos, where administrators define which employee database fields are used for each event type. Read more here.
Personalization
Selected modules support personalized experiences. Whole module and also tabs can be targeted to specific audiences using Collections powered by Cosmos.
For example, the first tab remains visible to everyone by default, while additional tabs can be shown only to selected user groups, such as departments, locations, or teams.
This functionality requires Cosmos to be installed and configured with Collections. Learn more abour Cosmos Collections.
Blog post settings
When Cosmos is installed, additional blog settings become available.
Content creators can configure enhanced blog properties such as custom background images, categories, and pinned status. When a background image is set in Cosmos Blog Settings, it overrides the Confluence blog header image in supported modules.
Support for Cosmos Blog Categories and Pinned Blog Posts in Optics modules is currently in development and will be available in an upcoming release.
