Page Break

You need a Page break macro when you want to move to the beginning of the next page in your exported document. Without this macro, it is not possible to manage where the next page starts. Page break macro will help you to control the content and make it more organized when exported.

Optics - Page Break works only with the native Confluence export feature.

Please follow these steps to insert a Page Break macro on a Confluence page:

  1. Navigate to the Confluence page you wish to edit or create a new page.

  2. Once in edit mode, either click the plus icon in the navigation bar (insert elements) or press '/' on your keyboard to bring up the macro list.

  3. Type "Optics" in the search bar, then choose the Page Break macro from the options displayed.

Click Save to add the button to your Confluence page. If you decide not to proceed, clicking Cancel will cancel the setup without inserting the macro.


Page Rating

Ratings are an invaluable source of feedback and a great tool to increase user engagement and interaction. People use ratings to decide whether they should or should not download an app, buy a product or book a hotel. Page rating report macro will improve the content quality and attract users to read more.

Before you start using the page rating feature, it should be enabled in the app settings. By default, this macro is disabled. Users will see an option to rate the page in the page header next to the edit button.

Please follow these steps to insert a Page Rating Report macro on a Confluence page:

  1. Navigate to the Confluence page you wish to edit or create a new page.

  2. Once in edit mode, either click the plus icon in the navigation bar (insert elements) or press '/' on your keyboard to bring up the macro list.

  3. Type "Optics" in the search bar, then choose the Page Rating Report macro from the options displayed.

  4. Select spaces and pages you want to include in your rating report. If nothing is selected, a report for all existing spaces and pages will be created.

  5. Select min and max star rating results when creating a report. If nothing is selected, all selected pages will appear.

Click Save to add the button to your Confluence page. If you decide not to proceed, clicking Cancel will cancel the setup without inserting the macro.


Automated Numbered Headings

Headings and subheadings represent the key concepts and supporting ideas on the page. Headings are generally more prominent than subheadings, and they both convey levels of importance. Headers tell us about the following content and make it easier to read and focus on what matters to you.

In large documents, it is useful and time-saving to have Automated Numbered Headings. Imagine how much time your team spends updating numbered headings within pages, especially when more employees create.

Please follow these steps to insert a Automated Numbered Headings macro on a Confluence page:

  1. Navigate to the Confluence page you wish to edit or create a new page.

  2. Once in edit mode, either click the plus icon in the navigation bar (insert elements) or press '/' on your keyboard to bring up the macro list.

  3. Type "Optics" in the search bar, then choose the Automated Numbered Headings macro from the options displayed.

Click Save to add the button to your Confluence page. If you decide not to proceed, clicking Cancel will cancel the setup without inserting the macro.

Numbered Headings Style

Select a numbered headings style. Default style is Decimal (1,2,3,4,5…)

  • Decimal (1,2,3,4,5…)

  • Lower-Latin (a,b,c,d,e…)

  • Upper-Latin (A,B,C,D,E…)

  • Upper-Roman (I, II, III, IV, V…)

Tiered numbers

Enable “Tiered numbers (1.1.1)” if you want to number each subheading separately.

Start at

Start at defines a starting number for the first heading.

Exclude headings

Select headings you would like to include in automated numbering.


Hide Content

Sometimes, you need to create similar pages to reach a different audience or add important information for decision-makers. One page for all users with permission to view content and sections that are only relevant to them is now possible with the Hide Content macro.

Use Cases

Hide content is used if you are creating many similar pages for various audience. You can create sections that can appear or become hidden based on added permissions, no need for more pages anymore.

  1. Navigate to the Confluence page you wish to edit or create a new page.

  3. Type "Optics" in the search bar, then choose the Hide Content macro from the options displayed.

Click Save to add the button to your Confluence page. If you decide not to proceed, clicking Cancel will cancel the setup without inserting the macro.

User permissions

Select Confluence users or user groups who can view the content. Page creator is per default selected.

Hide or Show

There are hide from or show to options for selected users or user groups.

Most of the native Confluence macros are available within the tabs editor.
