  1. Personalization and Layout Design:

    • After selecting a style, configure its layout and design, tailoring the navigation bar to your specific requirements.

    • Manage navigation entries by adding subentries, defining their design, and linking them to relevant content, thereby creating a coherent and functional navigation experience.

Cosmos Navigation bar customization extends through various aspects, ensuring you can craft a navigation interface that resonates with your organization's identity and requirements:

  • Navigation Entries: Explore diverse styles like London, Sydney, Denver, Palo Alto, Hum, and Houston, each offering unique design elements and layout options.

    • London and Sydney → These configurations present a refined layout, incorporating aesthetic improvements to deliver a user-centric navigation experience.

    • Denver → Characterized by its visual orientation, this style introduces an image-accompanied navigation option, providing multiple link integrations. Users can choose from different image dimensions (Small, Medium, Large) and presentation modes (Icon or Plain Text).

    • Palo Alto → This option allows for an extensive selection of app logos, including custom choices from the Optics Styleguide, facilitating the creation of an engaging and visually coherent menu.

    • Hum → Emphasizing minimalism, this style offers a straightforward link-based navigation, ideal for users seeking simplicity and efficiency.

    • Houston → Focused on space utility, this style enhances the visibility of critical spaces within the navigation framework, ensuring rapid access to pertinent content.

  • Design Personalization: From adjusting visual elements like colors and logos to setting specific visibility rules, Cosmos Navigation empowers you to design a navigation bar that not only looks great but is also incredibly intuitive.

The Design tab, powered by Optics, is accessible for users holding a valid Optics license and offers a suite of options to make the Cosmos Navigation Menu fit your brand identity.

By setting view permissions based on Collections, admins can ensure that navigation entries are visible only to relevant user groups. Furthermore, admins can specify the Confluence spaces where each navigation entry should be displayed, providing a tailored navigation experience that aligns with the unique structure and needs of the organization.

  1. Click on the edit button for the desired navigation entry.

  1. Find and click on the lock button located in the right upper corner.

  2. Set the visibility options:

    • Determine if the navigation entry should be visible to anonymous users. (Only applied if the Confluence instance is opened for anonymous access)

    • Specify the Confluence spaces where this navigation entry will be displayed.

    • Use collections as an additional filter to define which user groups can view the navigation entry.

Within the navigation configuration interface, there's a toggle feature that provides a straightforward way to enable or disable navigation for the whole Confluence instance. This functionality allows admins to easily publish the navigation once its configuration is complete, ensuring everything is set up perfectly before making it visible to users.

Additionally, this toggle offers the flexibility to hide the navigation from all users at any time, granting admins control over the availability and visibility of navigation options based on the organization's current needs or preferences. This feature ensures that navigation can be managed efficiently, keeping the user experience optimized and aligned with ongoing updates or changes.

Please note an important consideration regarding the navigation feature and Atlassian's native PDF export functionality. When navigation is enabled within Cosmos, it becomes part of the content exported using Atlassian's built-in page PDF export feature. This behavior has been identified, reproduced, and formally reported to Atlassian's technical team for review and resolution.
