Exciting new features in Fields
We’re happy to announce one of the biggest releases for the Fields app, packed with powerful new features designed to enhance flexibility, control, and performance.
Field-level edit permissions
Field creators now have the ability to define who can edit specific custom fields. For example, if you're using the MoSCoW prioritization field, only product managers can be given permission to modify the values. These permissions apply only to view screens, not create screens, providing greater control and more secure field management.
Transition to UI Kit 2
We’ve upgraded from UI Kit 1 to the latest version, UI Kit 2, which brings several key improvements:
Enhanced performance: Faster load times and smoother interactions for a more responsive user experience.
Modern design: A fresh, modern look that aligns with Atlassian’s latest design system, improving usability across all devices.
Increased flexibility: UI Kit 2 allows for greater customization and enables us to implement advanced features.
Future-proof: UI Kit 1 is being deprecated and will no longer be supported after February 2025, so migrating to UI Kit 2 ensures uninterrupted access to the app and future updates.
Full Jira Service Management (JSM) Support
We’re excited to announce that Fields now fully supports custom fields in Jira Service Management (JSM). After overcoming technical blockers, this highly requested feature is finally here. Supported fields in JSM include:
MoSCoW, Rating, T-Shirt Size, Traffic Light, Multilevel Select, Secure Fields, Currency, Colored Labels, Issue Picker, Progress, Unit, and Min/Max.
Check our documentation for more information on this update.
Stylized Display for WSJF, RICE, and ICE Fields
We’ve improved the visual display for WSJF, RICE, and ICE fields in the Issue view. Prioritization numbers are now more prominent and easier to interpret, allowing users to quickly assess and prioritize tasks with better clarity.
Multi-Context Support
One of the most requested features, multi-context support, is now available for custom fields in Jira. This feature enables users to define different contexts for the same field, making it highly adaptable to different projects and issue types. Whether you're working with different teams or workflows, multi-context support offers greater flexibility in how custom fields are used across various Jira environments.
This release is packed with enhancements that are designed to improve your experience with the Fields app. We're excited to see how these new features help you streamline your workflows, enhance prioritization, and boost performance!
