New Starters

Explore the New Starters widget from Pulse, a valuable tool designed to introduce and highlight new employees who are joining your organization. Displayed directly on your Confluence page, this widget utilizes your Cosmos database to identify and showcase individuals who are about to start their journey with your company. The New Starters widget is easy to configure and customize, ensuring that new team members receive a warm welcome and are quickly integrated into the company culture.

How to use

Implement the New Starters widget on your Confluence page by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the desired Confluence page or create a new one.

  2. Enter edit mode by clicking the plus icon in the navigation bar or pressing '/' to bring up the macro list.

  3. Locate "Pulse" within the macro list, select it, and then click on the "People" tab on the landing page.

  4. Pick the New Starters card under the People tab to begin configuration.


Configuration options

Setting up the New Starters widget involves these straightforward sections:

Layout

  • View Type → Opt between card or list views to complement your page's design.

  • Elements to Display → Similar to the Dynamic Org Charts, you can select which database columns (e.g., position, location) to feature on each new starter's card.

  • Layout Settings → Define the arrangement with options like the number of cards per row and pagination style (show more button, previous/next buttons, or none).

  • Items Management → Adjust the 'Items per page' and 'Total number of items' to control content volume.

People

  • Data Source Selection → In the Cosmos settings under New Starters, identify and select the database column that records the starting or entry date.

  • Collections Filter → Utilize Cosmos Collections to fine-tune the display of new starters.

Design

The Design tab, powered by Optics, is accessible for users holding a valid Optics license and offers a suite of options to make the Spaces overview more captivating.

  • Background → For people cards, there is an option to change the background, offering three choices: none, color, and image.

  • Padding → Adjust the padding around Spaces items for a cleaner, more spaced-out look, enhancing readability and focus on the content.

  • Border radius → Modify the border radius for a softer or more defined edge to the people cards, allowing for customization that matches your brand or style preferences.

  • Image size → Customize the dimensions of profile images within people cards to fit the overall design aesthetic, ensuring visual consistency and impact.
