Viz modules

Viz offers a growing library of Modules designed to make Confluence pages more engaging and visually appealing.

Modules are organized into three main groups to improve discoverability and help users quickly find the right tool for each use case:

  • Content Formatting: Build layouts and structure pages using modules such as Cards, Buttons, Panels, and Announcements..

  • Confluence Content: Display blogs, pages, and spaces in engaging and dynamic ways.

  • Teams & Activity: Create people overviews, org charts, activity feeds, and team highlights such as birthdays, anniversaries, and new starters.

Teams & Activity modules are powered by Cosmos and use employee profile data to display people-related content such as Org Charts, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and New Starters. Cosmos must be installed and configured for these Modules to function.

Insert module

  1. Open the desired page or create a new one.

  2. Enter edit mode, then click the ‘+’ icon in the toolbar or press ‘/’ on the keyboard to open the module menu.

  3. In the search bar, type “Viz” or “Optics” and select Viz (by Optics) from the list to open the configuration dialog.

  4. In the configuration dialog, either select a module template from the overview page or navigate to Cards from the left sidebar.

Alternatively, type “Cards”, “Button” or “Panel” and select Viz (by Optics). Atlassian search matches modules by their full macro name, so searching for terms such as CardsButtons, or Panels will also return the Viz (by Optics) module.

Templates

Creating Modules starts by selecting a template.

Each template provides a predefined design to help build consistent and visually appealing content in Confluence.

New templates are added regularly to expand available design options.

Confluence admins and users with special permissions can save their custom designs to the Library, making them available for the entire team to reuse and share. To learn more about how the Library works, read more here.
